Time To Move On, California Here We Come

(this happened on) Thursday 16th July, 2009

One of the things I notice and love about this place is the complete and utter lack of advertising hoardings anywhere on the island and it is bloody wonderful. You do notice it and it is a pleasant change.

Well today we fly to LA so I guess things are about to change.

We got picked up by the lovely Nancy in a nice shiny white and long limo, Sabastian immediately stretched out on the leather seat down the side of the car and went to sleep, so blaze. 30 minutes later we are at the airport.

We check in electronically, At check in both Sasha’s and my bags were over weight so we had to shuffle stuff between bags, Sofias. we spot on. That sorted we are very quickly through to the departure lounge.

The flight takes off on time and we are sat on the left side and so get a great of Honolulu and Waikiki as we fly away.

The flight was with American Airlines was without incident, which with the way planes seem to be falling out of the sky at the moment is a blessed relief, the plane did have very small and cramped seats which is amazing when you consider the size of your average American. The other great thing on todays flight was landing at an American airport and not having to go through the horribly slow and annoying immigration as this was in effect an internal flight.

So once we had our bags, we were out and looking for a ride to the hotel, after an aborted wait in the taxi queue which was a bloody farce, we then gave up and went to find the hotel shuttle instead.

The ride to the hotel was quick and easy, we are staying at the Hilton LAX which I booked on line through Hotwire and actually booked because it was a cheap option, Hotwire is a good idea, you book the hotel blind, they tell you the area it is in and the star rating but not what hotel it is until you have actually booked, so it’s a bit of a risk. Well the Hilton was a bloody good bargain, Our room has a great big fluffy bed direct from sleep heaven, and there is a big garden terrace outside our window and there is even a bath (so Sofia is happy).

By the time we get to the hotel it is around 10:30pm, so we just drop the bags and walk next door to Carl’s Jr where Sabastian is actually very excited to find a Cheeseburger that he really likes, we all really enjoyed our Carl’s Jr food.

Back to the room and Sofia is in the bath and I am on the internet catching up with the world,
