The Gap Year Gang Chill Out

Today was a lazy day. The black clouds that have been hanging over Las Vegas for the last two days have moved on and it’s hot with blue skies as far as the eye can see.

So we figured today was a swimming day, Sofia and I took our books down to the pool with me, we had a nice swim and read but it was too hot to stay outside for too long.

it’s sometimes hard to remember when on the strip, but Vegas is in the middle of a desert.

Returning to the room, I had to call my parents back home while Sofia had a nap.

Afterwards we took the kids up to the ten pin bowling and we all played fairly horribly, but still it’s a nice air conditioned environment.

After food at the buffet which I paid for with my Poker points, yes even my losing hours, many of them had actually contributed towards something even if it was only a lowly buffet meal.

it was time for us to play some Kalooki our family game, we went to the coffee shop and Sofia had an Earl Gray tea and the cards were dealt.

Sasha was on fire and frankly we were powerless against her card skills and after four hands she was so far ahead of us it was pointless continuing.

I headed for the Poker room and Sofia hit the Video Poker.

I won $55 at poker and had a really fun time, I do not think I would ever be good enough to tackle any really serious players but I am starting to feel that I could have as many winning days at this level as losing ones.

The regular players and poker room staff make the whole time spent playing a lot of fun.

Meanwhile Sofia took some two hours to lose $4 playing Video Poker, which means complimentary drinks she probably made a profit.

Back in the room Sofia finished her book, The Final Victim by Wendy Corsi Staub – Nail biting stuff apparently.
