(this happened on) Saturday 4th July 2009 (Independence Day)
The Gap Year Gang In America and it is celebrating kicking the Brits off of it’s land.

Once Sofia and I were up we left the kids some cash and headed out.
We walked a roundabout route towards the Ala Moana mall area, we first went into a Walgreens.
God I love American shops everything is so bloody cheap and there is so much choice, I wander round for ages just looking at the amazing variety of things I don’t need.
If I had too much money I would need a huge house just to put all the pointless crap I could buy in it.
After Walgreens, Sofia treated me by going to KFC, she is not really a fan, I on the other hand really do enjoy a bit of fried chicken (even if I do seem to spend a long time on the loo the next day!). It’s a very different menu to the English one, but boy did my chicken taste good.
Sofia had a salad and I think she enjoyed it, it looked quite a good bit of fresh greenery.
We walked into the main mall and enjoyed a nice stroll around, amazingly in such a big place we bumped into Sasha and Basty.
The preparations for the big Independence day firework display are in full force, people are carrying fold up seats around in preparation.
Our plan is to wing it, probably watch the fireworks from the beach by the Hilton again.
We decided to beat the food rush after the firework displays by eating early, we picked Todai again as we could all have as much of what we wanted as we could eat.
Afterwards the children went back to the room they were not interested in watching the fireworks (don’t ask me I don’t know)!
Sofia and I started walking with the great mass of people towards the beach but on the way it started to rain, not a lot but enough to change our mind when we saw a place called Margarita Jazz Bar from where we could kind of watch the display between two buildings in between sips of cold beer under a sun shade, the rain soon faded away but we stayed put. In fact we moved from outside to sit inside, it was empty as everybody else was watching the display (which looked quite spectacular).
The bar was doing Margaritas for $3.50 as an Independence Day special, that was fine with Sofia as she took advantage of that offer time and time again.
The bar soon started to fill up with the strays of the world, a real strange bunch.
Sofia beat me at cards again.
Countless Coronas and Margaritas later we asked for the bill and it appears that they had not been keeping a tab! they said we could have walked out without paying and nobody would have been none the wiser, good to know!
We paid anyway and walked back to the hotel, Sasha was in the lobby on her computer, she did not come to bed until 4:00am.
