F1 Qualifying, F14 Flying And KFC Munching

Saturday 28th March 2009 - Our Mature Gap Year Continues – I’m in Melbourne and Sofia and the Kids are in Ulladulla.

Alan’s Tale

Today is the Australian F1 GP Qualifying day and it’s  very hot, very, very hot, perfect for watching racing  from the comfort of an air conditioned room in front of a TV,  not so perfect if you are actually out in the heat, especially as it feels that the heat can melt your face off.

The wait for qualifying was very long and although there was a full support list, I just wanted to see the F1 cars in action. Late in the afternoon the Qualifying kicked off and it was amazing.

The Brawn GP cars were living up to all the hype and rumors, the Ferraris looked strong as did the Red Bulls.

Sadly for me the qualifying  was spoilt at the very end by some idiot who scheduled an F14 to fly in just before the qualifying ended. The noise it created was enough to drown out the on track commentary which meant nobody could hear who finished where in qualifying.

The lucky few in front of a monitor could see but the rest (the majority) knew nothing. Bloody annoying. I actually never knew that Jensen was on Pole until I got a chance to log on to my computer some hours later.

Back at the motel I also watched the latest game of Aussie Rules Football on TV, it featured the St Kilda team.

Qualifying - Who Is On Pole?

Sofia’s Tale – Life in Ulladulla, While Alan’s Away!

We got up and decided to go on a aboriginal walk through the scrub with carvings and paths telling the story of the ‘white fellas’ taking over this land. The weather was very hot. Charlotte was not with us as she was at work today.

The boys were collecting lizards, they found two Jacks Lizards, which are very pretty little things with lovely markings. Sasha got dragged through the trees by Thinny the Dog while I learnt a little more about the indigenous people.

We let Jack decide on lunch and he chose KFC, so after a drive through it was off to the park to eat it.

The children were all over the swings and playground and had a blast. We then went into town to get Halo 2 for the boys to play and some films for the girls.

When we got back to the house Glen had one of his old school friends visiting, he had just got married and had his new wife with him.

We had a picnic supper and then settled down to a foot pamper and peppermint scrub while watching ‘The Duchess’, which I really enjoyed, Nicky fell asleep, while Glen was not into it but was very patient.

The girls had gone out on a treasure hunt and not come back, we texted them but no reply, so  we sat up until they returned at 2:00am. They had, had a ball, they had seen a very drunk Lockie at the party.

Sasha checked her emails and then onto bed very, very late.

Jack was sick and had to go to bed with a temperature and a very sore throat.
