Day of the Prawn and I Get Some Respect

Palms Hotel and Casino

I was up early and headed over to the Palms for a bit of Poker in their poker room. I played for a couple of hours and was up until my last hand which went wrong and I walked away having lost $15.

In the afternoon we all headed back to the Palms to watch the film District 9, The cinema in the Palms is very nice and comfortable.

District 9 was an amazing all action film, I am not sure I have seen a better film for a very long time, so of course it will be ignored come Oscar season.

It starts off at a canter and steadily builds and builds, never a dull moment, the choice of actors was really good and the whole look of the film has a gritty realistic feel.

Love the Reflections

We then headed back to the Gold Coast and went off to play a couple of games of ten pin bowling, I won both games but was not actually that pleased with my play.

Afterwards we ate at the Buffet, it was a bit rushed as they were closing soon but the food was very good again.

Afterwards Sofia played some machines while I played poker after about an hour I was $20 up but the table was losing players so I decided to cash out and try again later.

Sofia and I walked over to the Rio and played some Rapid Roulette, I lost $40 so dam quickly while Sofia played for about an hour and cashed out $9 up, I used to really enjoy Roulette but I feel that it is such bad value for money now as I can play for a few hours with $40 at poker and have a good chance of coming away with some winning, with Roulette it’s too expensive, with a few losing spins the money is gone.

Back at the Gold Coast I signed up for a 2/4 game again and while waiting played Video Poker with Sofia, when my name was called I went and played, at around 2:00am I cashed out $100 up. I really feel that at the 2/4 limit table I am starting to get respect from quite a few of the regulars who see me every night and indeed for the first few weeks were happily taking my money, now I am either holding on to it for a lot longer or indeed taking their money off of them.

That’s probably a statement that will bite me on the ass but I look at it like this, a big portion of the players at the Gold Coast are locals and not some out of towner who only plays once in a blue moon and I am starting to see then show me respect where as before they would steam roller all over me.

I am sure I am not ready for bigger money games though, I know my level.
