A Family Affair in Monrovia, Good Times

We all crawled out of bed very late and took another visit to the Manhattan Village shops where we bought some goodies to take with us as we were going to visit Sofia’s cousin Nick and his family (Sunni & Chelsea) who live in an area called Monrovia.

We wanted to take something special as it had been a long, long time.

Nick and Sunni got Married some 20 years ago in the UK but almost immediately left the country for the USA (Sunni is American) where Nick was working in the film industry.

We found a Godiva shop and bought Giant Strawberries dipped in chocolate and chocolate cups of berries, a nice little package cost a heft $66 shockingly expensive but they looked so good, very pricy, but very classy

Afterwards, we stopped for a coffee and a cake at a local bakery, but it was not that good.

Next we had to load up the car and set the SatNav to Monrovia where Nick and Sunni live. The satnav led me astray a few times, it was quite a drive but eventually we turned up at the right place.

The area they live in is very nice more like a small English town and the home is in a spanish style with nice grounds and a pool.

We all said our hellos and then headed out to sit outside where Nick was doing the BBQ and for the next few hours it was food, drink and catching up.

The conversation was lively and fun. It was a great get together, I loved talking Loveline and Adam Carolla with Sunni and we all enjoyed  meeting Chelsea for the first time.

Nick looked the same as ever, the last time we saw him was six years ago at Sofia’s Fathers funeral.  It was twenty years since we last saw Sunni and she looked to have changed very little.

Basty had found the cat to snuggle, as well as the black lab and golden retriever, at one stage he and the cat lay on the sitting room floor having a love in.

We all chatted into the  evening, Sunni said she and Nick might come and visit us while we are in Vegas which would be good fun.

Everyone was starting to look tired and we had a long drive back to the  Hilton LAX so we sadly said our goodbyes.

Nick is taking Chelsea to London as she is spending two weeks at RADA, what an exciting adventure for her.

They seem to have an idyllic lifestyle here in La La land.

The journey back to the hotel was nice and easy as the satnav and I seem to have an understanding at last.

When we got back to the hotel, on the Bar TV, David Beckham was playing a match for LA Galaxy so Sofia and I watched that and had some good beer and a thin crust pizza which we shared.

LA Galaxy were playing Real Madrid in a friendly, the score was a two all draw.

Another late night on the computer for me, while Sofia had a lovely long bath.
