The Gap Year Gang Report It’s Hot and Hazy with Yellow Crabs

Ha Ha Ha Ha Staying Alive

Another sunny day in Fiji. We all went to breakfast together.

Sasha was armed with her book so she could nab the big lounging platform straight from breakfast which she did.

Sofia and I went for a walk to try and get a some better photos of the yellow crabs. We spent quite a while creeping up and then watching them do their Saturday Night Fever dance raising their one large yellow pincer in the air and waggling it.

Sofia caught a couple and tried to photograph them but it was hard to get a good picture.

She then joined Sasha on her platform taking her book ‘The Dead Pool’  I don’t think she is that keen on it. Then Sabastian joined them, he had tried to talk to the dive instructor, but the Instructor said he was too busy and could Basty call back later. Basty promptly fell asleep.

I grabbed the laptop and went back to reception to see if I could find and book a good value hotel in Hawaii our next stop. I managed to find a place by using Trip Advisor and Expedia and booked us in for three nights.

On my way back to the Bure, I could see Sofia, Sasha and Basty still lazing on the big day bed and decided to join them, I was quite pleased to see that the Internet connection still worked out here and the sun was shining bright.

Back at the Bure and I decided to have a go on the Kayak, I had wanted to try windsurfing but the tide was low and they only had one short fin windsurf and that was being used.

The water here does not get above waist level for good 100 yards in most places so at low, low tide a long fin one would be hanging out of the water.

Afterwards I joined Sofia in the Bure where we had a very nice spa bath on the balcony, Sofia had decided to add some bubble bath to the water, it went rather wild with bubbles everywhere. The spa is a very nice extra and we have been making the best of it. After a little laze it was soon time for dinner.

While at dinner a little Gecko jumped on Sasha’s leg, we tried to get some good pictures of it but it was a bit quick.

We love little Gecko’s so cute and they make a great nose, also watching them hunt is fun, they are so patient and stealthy a bit like cats.

Afterwards the kids went back to their room while Sofia and I played cards, I was leading all the way until the last disastrous hand when she stomped me.

The guy who had to be towed in while on the windsurfer yesterday and his wife joined us for a chat, then the Hobbit and his wife joined us (a little grey haired and bow legged chap who looked exactly like a hobbit and he was from New Zealand!)

On the way back to the room and under a star filled sky, Sofia and I went frog hunting. Sasha had earlier been very upset as a little tiny frog got squished in her shoe.

Sofia caught three frogs and I caught two, they were lovely little things.

We all sat and watched two episodes of Boston Legal together.
