Thursday 26th March 2009 – Melbourne and Ulladulla  (Our Mature World Travel Gap Year Continues)

Alan’s Tale (Melbourne)

I had a nice lie in and was dressed and and out the door by 10:30am, I then walked gingerly to St Kilda where my first task was to get some socks as the sores on the back of my heels where by now beyond a joke.

Then I hopped on a tram to Albert Park and very soon was through the gate for my first sight of the racing circuit. I entered via Gate 2 and walked around the area looking for the best viewing points, I also crossed the lake via the pontoon bridge. Albert Park is fantastic and there is a great view of the city from it.

It was nice to be able to walk around the garages of some of the lesser formula. Including the tiny but very cool looking Aussie Racers, Some old classic racers in the Formula 5000 class, The Mini Coopers and The Formula Fords as well as the very expensive sports cars of the GT class.

Hollywood heartthrob Eric Bana had entered the GT class in his blue Porsche and he did not disappoint, the man can drive. I left the track in the early afternoon as I had a mission.

I wanted to get tickets for the Aussie Rules Football at the MCG tomorrow. Hawthorn Vs Geelong, It would be a shame to spend three months in Oz and not see a live game of this sport in a big stadium.

Finding a ticket outlet in Melbourne is not an easy task, I walked all over the bloody place trying to find one.

Finally Mission accomplished I headed back to St Kilda on the tram. Stopping at a bar for a quick beer and some munchies and then back to the motel.

Sofia’s Tale (King’s Point, Ulladulla)

We had breakfast then headed out, Charlotte, Sasha, Sabastian, Nicky  and I, we went and had a look at Ulladulla, we went to book shops, shopped at a Pharmacy the usual stuff.

I got Charlotte a scarf and a butterfly broach and Sasha one with a key. We drove  to the light house where we had Iced coffee in a café which was served by Sophie a friend of Charlottes.  We then drove to Mollymook beach and had a bit of lunch.  Sasha and Charlotte swam. We walked around the harbor and it was scorching hot. We took Charlotte to the dentist she has to have her wisdom teeth out, poor kid.  We got back in time for Jack finishing school and then we picked up some steak and some wine for our supper. We persuaded Glen to do some BBQ’ing and we all sat down together for dinner, eight of us.  We all had a good laugh, the sparkling red wine went very well with the T-Bone.

The internet was not working so no good night message to Alan tonight. Got some great Bodyshop stuff from Nicky. Lovely relaxed time lots of giggles.
