A Day Out With Mo’Fobes

(this happened on) Saturday August 15th, 2009 in Las Vegas

An Enjoyable Trip To The M Resort

M Resort Hotel and Casino Worth The Visit

Today I was due to meet with an online  friend from the This Aint Iowa Podcast,

http://www.notiowa.com at midday, we are going out to the M Resort to play poker.

MoFobes is a bit of a legend who moved to Vegas a year or so ago to be a professional gambler, sadly it did not work out and he now has a 9-5 like the rest of the world.

Fobes does not appreciate poor poker play so I may be in for some trouble.

This was my first ever visit to this Casino which is a good 15 minutes from the strip.

I enjoyed the ride out there, I like to see the places the real Las Vegans live in.

The M Resort is really new and shiny, and has a really good poker room which is probably 95% local players so you know they will be pretty dam tight and good unlike some holiday maker out for a laugh who has not played poker before.

And it is staffed with very helpful and friendly staff plus some very attractive busty cocktail waitresses who as well as being the most attractive cocktail waitresses I have seen anywhere in Vegas they are also very efficient meaning the drinks flowed.

We played for about four hours and had a really good laugh, I made a few mistakes including one where I actually mucked the winning hand because I was not paying attention, we had a good laugh with some of the other players and also the dealers.

The funniest thing was when some little old lady who was about 150 years old if she was a day was wheeled to the table in what could have been either her wedding dress or her night dress by somebody I guess was her partner, he was about 100, so her toy boy.

Any way this frail little old thing must have quadrupled her starting stake in about thirty minutes before being wheeled away again.

I eventually lost about $40 but felt it was worth every minute based upon the amount of laughs and drinks we had.

Fobes dropped me back at the Gold Coast and I thanked him for a great time.

The This Ain’t Iowa boys are always great hosts.

The Beautiful Lady's of the M Resort

Whilst I had been doing that Sofia had taken the boys to the Vegas Outlet Shopping Centre as Bastys Jeans were three inches above his ankles.

She made Stefan help by finding him the ‘right’ Jeans, sunglasses and pants.

Stefan got his hair cut and Sofia bought some nice clothes for herself.

They then went back to the Gold Coast and where there by about 6:00pm.

Sofia had bought two bags of M&M’s that they could use as chips so that Basty could teach Stefan and Sofia how to play Poker in our room.

Later back with the family and we all went out to The Rio and ate at the All American Bar and Restaurant, absolutely fantastic food, burgers and steaks,

Basty and I had burgers, the burgers there were better than any other of burgers I have ever had, highly recommended.

Stefan had a Rib steak which was so big he could not even finish it all, a very rare occasion.

Sofia shared her clam chowder with Basty and had Asparagus and Hollandaise Sauce for her main course which she enjoyed.

Back at the GC we all sat in the bedroom and played poker. Stefan beat Basty in a heads up final and I was first out much to their delight.

Then Sofia and I went downstairs to play, I got a seat immediately in the poker room and Sofia went off to play the machines.

I ended up losing $20 after about three hours play, not too bad.

I am still enjoying my little bit of poker celebrity and also am now warmly welcomed by all the staff at the poker room, Jack, Paul, Sabastian, Dustin, Bill, Coco and Jun, as well as many of the regular players, there is a real poker comradeship even though we are all aiming to take each others money.

I am loving Vegas,
